Project Description
Identity Verification Disclosure
At TNNotary.online, identity verification is a critical component of every Remote Online Notarization session. We follow Tennessee state regulations and industry best practices to ensure each participant is who they claim to be—safeguarding against fraud and maintaining the legal validity of all notarized documents.
How We Verify Identity
Before any notarization begins, your identity is verified using a two-step process:
- Credential Analysis: You will upload a government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license or passport), which is authenticated using secure, automated software to check for signs of tampering, expiration, and forgery.
- Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA): You will answer a series of timed, multiple-choice questions drawn from your public records (e.g., previous addresses, loan amounts, vehicle ownership). You must pass this test to proceed.
Who Must Verify Identity?
Every signer participating in a RON session must complete identity verification. The only exception is if the signer is personally known to the notary, in which case the notary may bypass KBA and credential analysis, subject to Tennessee law and platform policy.
Technology Platforms We Use
We partner with secure and compliant technology providers like Notarize.com, OneNotary, and BlueNotary who maintain industry-leading standards for identity verification, encryption, and data security.
What Happens If Verification Fails?
If a participant fails KBA or if their ID cannot be verified:
- The notary session cannot proceed
- You will be notified immediately and offered a chance to reattempt verification
- If issues persist, you may reschedule the appointment or seek in-person notarization
Retention of Identity Data
Identity verification data (e.g., ID images, KBA results) is stored securely by the platform provider per applicable state and federal laws. TNNotary.online does not retain or share this data beyond the requirements of the notarization process.
